Field & Equipment Director
The Field and Equipment Director is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and readiness of all soccer fields and equipment used by Byron Fútbol Club, whether owned, leased, or borrowed. This role supports safe play, efficient operations, and compliance with league and safety standards.
Major Responsibilities:
Field Coordination & Maintenance
- Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the City of Byron Public Works Department and other field owners as applicable.
- Coordinate with the City regarding field availability, mowing schedules, and in-season field striping.
- Work closely with the Traveling and Recreation Program Directors to align field usage with practice and game schedules.
- Oversee field setup and preparation, ensuring fields are properly lined, goals are secured, and playing surfaces are safe for use.
- Coordinate with the City or property owners to address field repairs, maintenance needs, and ongoing upkeep.
Ensure field map is updated and posted on website.
Equipment Management
- Maintain an inventory of all Club-owned field and player equipment, including goals, nets, balls, cones, pinnies, markers, benches, canopies and related supplies.
- Ensure equipment is safe, in good condition, properly stored, and accessible for Traveling and Recreation programs.
- Maintain order and cleanliness within equipment storage sheds, including keeping areas free of trash and debris to help prevent rodent or pest infestation.
- Manage the distribution, control, and tracking of soccer complex shed keys, ensuring access is limited to authorized individuals.
- Order replacement or additional equipment as needed to support Club programs.
- Coordinate equipment distribution, check-out, and return processes with Program Directors.
Field Conditions & Weather Monitoring
- Monitor field conditions and assess playability, particularly during adverse or changing weather conditions.
- Communicate field closures, delays, or schedule adjustments due to field conditions to Program Directors in a timely manner.
Budgeting & Purchasing
- Evaluate equipment and field-related needs and obtain pricing or quotes as necessary.
- Make purchases within the approved budget and track related expenditures.
- Provide recommendations/cost estimation to the Board regarding future equipment purchases and field improvement projects.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all fields and equipment meet applicable safety standards and league requirements.
- Confirm that goals are properly anchored and that fields are free of hazards prior to use.
- Report safety concerns or compliance issues to the Board and assist in resolving them promptly.
Term: 2 Years
Officers shall serve a term of two (2) years and may be reappointed or re-elected in accordance with the bylaws of Byron Fútbol Club.
